BEHIND THE DOOR | 20'
The performance “Behind the door” is a contemporary dance work that explores the depths of female psychology, inspired by the unique social phenomenon of Tarantismo in Southern Italy. The two dancers, moved by the human stories that lead to the loss of control of our powers, seek to engage with what lies “behind our doors” and express it through a vocabulary of contemporary movement.
DUENDE DANCE COMPANY
The Duende Dance Company was founded in the fall of 2024 as an evolution of the long-term collaboration between Dafni Stathatou and Anastasia Drouga. The two dancers met and have been working together as contemporary and Southern Italian traditional dancers with the group Encardia since 2018, co-creating five dance and music performances with them: "La Taranta" (2024, Kastoria), "Emigranti" (2022, Messolonghi), "Moonlight Sonata" (2021, Monemvasia), "Defying the gods" (2021, Kilkis), and "In the steps of the soul" (2019, Athens Concert Hall). From 2025 onward, they focus on their own original duet-based creations, such as the performance "Behind the Door, " the seminar "Shall We Groove?" and the duet "Cambio."
